Overheard last night on Smith Street.... Bookstore Owner: "I believe the W in George W. Bush stands for Watergate."................................................................. Maddie: "This guy started kissing me the other night, and my tongue kept hitting a chunk of food wedged between his teeth" Jack: "Why did you keep kissing him?" Maddie: "I wanted to figure out what it was"..................................................................................................... Chris: "Why does everyone keep asking me computer questions? Just because I'm Asian? Jack: "Does that mean I can't ask you where General Tso gets his sauce from?".................................................. Cute Kid: "Your bike is so squeaky, sounds like you got crickets in your wheels."................................................. Jack: "I was assaulted by backpacks on the subway. I mean I like big asses, but not between the shoulder blades. Chris" "Backasses."........................................................................................................................................ Why bother to cross the bridge into Manhattan? The strip here is friendlier and every night you can share a beer with an old friend or kiss a new one. Jack, Maddie and Chris aren't married, but together these Brooklyn friends definitely aren't single. They've learned to replace old friends with younger ones, and tired relationships with fresher ones. Be it a Mazola date with a crazed redhead or an audition to be Barney's wife, they check in with each other every day. Mr. Smith Street is a sharp, intelligent, wit-driven program determined to examine what is both frustrating and sustaining about every day life. Through biting humor it will show that all ages, genders, and races have something to learn from one another, including in the bedroom. We see successful people yearning for companionship, unsuccessful people dreaming of solitude, and mediocre people interfering with it all. Everything about life in today's Brooklyn is open for discussion; and so much of it is funny. |
